Ray Singer Posted November 19, 2020 Report Posted November 19, 2020 This is an exceptional Shinto blade by the well known Echizen smith Sagami (no) kami Kunitsuna. This is a perfect example of what you want to buy when purchasing a Shinto blade. The Kunitsuna is ubu, with a clear mei and the nakago in a perfect state of preservation for the time period. The blade is extremely healthy with a broad mihaba (3.1cm moto-haba) which shows no indication of past damage. The kissaki is extending and the boshi is healthy. And the blade is of josun length, measuring 70.8cm. The kasane is a thick and healthy 7.5mm. Kunitsuna was a member of the Echizen Shimosaka mon and worked around Keian c. 1648). He was rated Chu-jo saku in Fujishiro. The hamon is a wild chogi-gonome hamon with tobiyaki everywhere. You could call it loosely inspired by the more flamboyant Sue-Soshu. The boshi is ko-maru and there is a yakidashi down to the hamachi. The habaki is silver foil with some small dings on one side. The shirasaya is beautiful, with dark color and koppa-maki. This sword is consigned for an active NMB member, who is offering a 1 year guarantee that it will pass NBTHK Hozon. SOLD Quote
