Tengu1957 Posted November 15, 2020 Report Posted November 15, 2020 Iron Moth or Butterfly theme 1 Quote
Spartancrest Posted November 17, 2020 Report Posted November 17, 2020 I have seen this design a number of times, usually two moths/butterflies facing each other. Yours seems to be incorporating other details reminiscent of a temple gong in the top part of the design. Is the reverse the same or with the elements inverted? Quote

Bugyotsuji Posted November 17, 2020 Report Posted November 17, 2020 They are 蝶 Cho, butterflies, not 蛾 Ga, moths! (As my brain gets off on the nice background sounds.) Quote
Tengu1957 Posted November 18, 2020 Author Report Posted November 18, 2020 The reverse is just the same. Another butterfly. 3 Quote

Kurikata Posted November 18, 2020 Report Posted November 18, 2020 My Umetada school "Cho" tsuba signed Yamashiro Ju Shigeyoshi.(山城住重吉) It represents the Ikeda Family Mon (Mukai Cho Ka-mon) 3 Quote
ROKUJURO Posted November 19, 2020 Report Posted November 19, 2020 A butterfly TSUBA from my little collection. It seems to be a late EDO one, but I don't know the school. 1 Quote
