Tengu1957 Posted October 23, 2020 Report Posted October 23, 2020 This is an Edo period armor with Hineno style Kabuto with Tehen. This armor is not designed to have Sode , the Reed mats serve to keep rain out of the armor. There is a purse under the haidate. 1 Quote
uwe Posted October 23, 2020 Report Posted October 23, 2020 Nice late Edo gusoku! Why do you think it was not designed to have sode? Quote
Tengu1957 Posted October 24, 2020 Author Report Posted October 24, 2020 Forget the name for them but has the winged flaps that provide defense to the shoulder with no attachment cords for Sode. Quote
Laurent in France Posted October 24, 2020 Report Posted October 24, 2020 Good late example, easy to find black urushi sode to complete.. Quote

Tengu1957 Posted October 24, 2020 Author Report Posted October 24, 2020 I think we have all seen some purses attached to the Do on the outside. I am sorry when I said Haidate , on the front Kasazari there is a purse sewn into the fabric underneath. It's the same frabic as used in the rest of the armor so it's original. When you pull it up the opening is upright so it hangs upside down. The closure is secured by buttons. Quote
Shogun8 Posted October 24, 2020 Report Posted October 24, 2020 Thanks for the additional detail, Gary! Quote
