Hi All, I want to share some pics of various crafts that are still active. It includes a knife maker, doll maker, lantern maker, weaver and sumi and inkstone makers. I talked to the ink maker and asked if it was still made with ground charcoal and fish glue. He said yes, but, I'm sure there is more to it. The inkstone carver said the stone comes from China and is fairly hard to carve. Looked equivalent to soapstone to me. The weaver is quite skilled. His cloth sized for obi was exquisite. This is a new area just built beside the Asakusa Kannon Temple like an old style trade fair, replica period stalls. I do not know if it will be a permanent fixture. I hope you enjoy seeing these. John
