Does anyone have the results of the 2020 NBTHK competition results? I saw a post on Facebook by Akamatsu Tarou saying he got an effort award this year for what a appears to be an utsushi of the Sanchomo. Although Paul Martin said the NBSK did not host theirs this year.

Here they are

Let me know if you need help with any translation. Can't say I will know the exact English way to spell every artisan's name since sometime the name is read with Onyomi method but sometime with Kunyomi

Hello friends,

I also wanted to share, I found a website post by Katana_case_shi who went to the first half of the exhibition and took pictures of EVERYTHING for us to enjoy! for those of us who could not make it to Japan due to the Pandemic.  I for one, would absolutely kill to be there right now and to see the exhibit.  But heres the next best thing.  Some really beautiful stuff there.  I hope he goes for the second half which actually starts today and captures those as well, although I doubt it.  Please enjoy. :)

Oh wow thank you and your friend for this! Usually there are no pictures at all for the annual competition except for catalogs (which cost a lot to ship). I love that you can even see the hada in the pics. I'm surprised there were a few shinsakuto in the polishing section. Amazing!

I was suprised too! haha, it's awesome.  I have messaged the guy who posted that post to ask if he is gonna go back and capture the other half, haven't gotten a reply though.

By the way guys, theres a part 2 in there in case you guys didnt see it, that has the tosugu section as well.

Fantastic post. I love the fact that they include photos of the artists. Nice to be able to put a face to some of the smiths and metalworkers. Wish this was compiled into a pdf that we could upload for the future.

Thanks for adding the link, as mentioned by Brian, it's very cool to see name,  face and submission so conveniently organized.

So much diversity in the submissions too, not just type but all attributes it's really a unique craft. The tanto signed Kiyofusa with choji early in the list really resonated with me. Like it's on fire.

Oh wah, thanks for sharing that photo, what a hamon!

If I find an hour free time I'm going to use it to see if I can find some more by this smith.

Interesting  to see that there was also a non Japanese polisher in the contest.

Hendrik Lindelauf , does someone have more information about him ?

Almost asked a question about the rankings and award names... but then realized the SEARCH function is our friend... if anyone is interested, here is a link to the .pdf that explains them and a little bit about the processs:
