kanji stroke learning

i can work out the mune kanji but do not understand where or how they get sada from the second kanji.....i know they are different spellings for the same kanji...does it say sada and is they an abc internet learning site for kanji please

Your question contains two or three within it, Steve. Jacques has addressed one of them by connecting you with pages for learning Kanji specifically for reading Nihonto tang Mei.

 

There are good books on how to learn Kanji stroke by stroke. I expect there should be some good internet sites too, but I haven't run a search on them, so I cannot help you there. They will be out there... I feel positive.

 

One of your best moves would be to get a good Kanji dictionary and learn how to use it. The experts never have all the Kanji in their heads, and the better you are, the more you will rely on having a Kanji Dictionary by your side. Andrew Nelson's Japanese-English Character Dictionary is one I have owned for 30 years.

The Koop & Inaba is a very good one too. I bought it more than 20 years ago. Very interesting one. You will learn what is a radical

 

Whatever the book, you shall have to work hard if you want to progress in kanji reading

 

Nothing is acquired easily in life but :D :D

I use both Koop & Inada (Japanese Names and How To Read Them) and Nelson's (The New Nelson Japanese-English Character Dictionary); both are helpful. The 1st is aimed at the Kanji used in names, titles, places, and the like, and Nelson's has most everything. Make sure you get the New Nelson, not the original edition.

I use this book. I thought it to be handy because they have 3 different indexes and they tell you the stroke-writing-order, which comes in handy sometimes :-)

This is a good site. I like the multi radical look up section. It can be tedious but you can usually crack a lot of hard kanji with practice, patience and perseverance. There is stroke order in there too and lots more.

I guess Dirk and Guido chose the same avatars. Amazing how we all associate the people with their avatars on first glance

Maybe it's time I added some new avatars, although there are quite a few to choose from.

It's a real shame the Nihonto Kanji Pages are gone Best site for identifying at a quick glance.

Wishful thinking, my little grasshopper. :D My avatar is my wife's Kamon (Okayama-Hanshi, going back at least 400 years), the Maru ni Sakura, while your's is the common garden variety Kawari-Kiri-Guruma. Dirk chose the famous Aoi no Go-Mon of the Tokugawa.

 

My avatar is around online for at least 10 years, and the only thing in common with Dirk's avatar is that it's gold on black ground. However, mine is a (photoshopped) pic of a Maedate from a suit of armor owned by my father in law.

At least I have an excuse. A 14 hour flight and no real sleep for the past 48 hours. :?
