vajo Posted September 13, 2020 Report Posted September 13, 2020 I would like to fill the topic here with bidding orgies on the eGun Plattform. These sword pub up often and get a lot of bids. I start with this. https://www.egun.de/market/item.php?id=11591779 Aktueller Preis 338,00 EUR Restzeit 4 Tage, 19:29:08 (akt. Zeit: 13.09.2020 17:32:33) Ende 18.09.2020 13:01:41 MEZ Gebote 35 ( Gebotsübersicht ) Quote
Bruce Pennington Posted September 13, 2020 Report Posted September 13, 2020 That's a pretty standard example of the fakes. Hard to see the fittings well enough. They might be legit. Quote
vajo Posted November 15, 2020 Author Report Posted November 15, 2020 This one was sold one hour ago for 847 EUR - around 1.000 Dollar. 🤣 https://www.egun.de/market/item.php?id=12776366 2 1 Quote
mecox Posted November 15, 2020 Report Posted November 15, 2020 Chris, they both look like reproductions to hang in the bar. The excessive wild hada is one sign, but also they usually have cheaper tsuka ito of a different weave, plus the binding crossover is usually all one way, and not alternate overlap. Mal 1 Quote
vajo Posted November 16, 2020 Author Report Posted November 16, 2020 I know what they are Mel. No need to explain. 🤣 But it is funny to see that you get 1000 Dollar for selling a zero worth sword on that auction plattform. Quote
ChrisW Posted November 16, 2020 Report Posted November 16, 2020 Sheesh, Chris. That blade is hard to even look at, its so hideous! Quote
Shamsy Posted November 16, 2020 Report Posted November 16, 2020 More money than sense. Just lazy not to do the research, but it'll be a lesson they're unlikely to forget quickly. Quote

dwmc Posted November 29, 2020 Report Posted November 29, 2020 Another disturbing feature of many of these fake swords is they seem to more often than not copy the " Hada Tatsu" style of Ji-hada . Then, even when a legitimate mixed metal type Hada from the Meji or Showa era is presented to the NMB it almost immediately falls suspect as being a Chinese reproduction ! I personally find prominent Itame/Mokume Hada's used for forging Nihonto to be quite attractive of all era's, only to be somewhat diminished by these pathetic modern fakes!! And to be selling for how much...Seriously!!! Dave M. 2 Quote
