Beauty of martensite

Good work. It is a pleasure to make good pictures from a good blade in nice conditions.

Shots of the details are the easy one.....

Make the same quality picture of the complete blade is a different task.

You are absolutely right, Didier
Although I know the theory of shooting the whole blade, the results of combining individual photos are still lousy😤
The results of Darcy or Kirill photos are my immodest mission

Wow great close up shot there! In general, the beauty of martensite doesn't seem to be emphasized enough, would love to see more examples if others can share and make this a show and tell thread.

I dont seem to have many shots close up like that focusing on the martensite but here are a couple that I have readily available from my recent Ko-Uda acquisition. Mainly a fine stream of sand.

Tanba Kami Yoshimichi wakizashi

Ah Brano that reminds me of my first sword at 18 years of age, found in a barn collecting dust in Devon near Okehampton.

There it was hanging from the beam with baler twine around it.

I asked what the farmer wanted for it. He said he used to do house clearance and got it at an estate with many others. It had been up there 20 years.

£50 bought it, signed Tamba no kami Yoshimitchi with surare ba just like that and that bold Yoshimitchi mei.

I took it up to Victor Harris for kantei all those years ago.

That was the start, but then deals could be found and these swords turned up cheaply at all the local auction houses.

Now prices over here are ludicrous..... Supply and demand I guess.
