andreYes Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 I've got a tsuba. It came with a strange paper, called NTBK certificate. According it, this tsuba is made by Yoshishige (from Myochin school) during Momoyama Era. Can it be truth? What do you think about it? Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted November 14, 2008 Report Posted November 14, 2008 Nihon Tosougu Kenkyukai, so NTK, NTKKK (?) If you don't like the tsuba, I would be willing to take it for you... Quote
Nobody Posted November 14, 2008 Report Posted November 14, 2008 There are papers of 日本刀装具研究会 (Nihon Toso-gu Kenkyu-kai) and 日本刀装武具研究会 (Nihon Toso-Bu-gu Kenkyu-kai). I do not know if they are different groups or only a poor typo. See the middle of the page below. http://tsuba.jyuluck-do.com/JapaneseCertificates.html Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted November 14, 2008 Report Posted November 14, 2008 Oops, I fell straight into the trap. Wow, they are difficult to tell apart, aren't they!!! Thanks for the link, Moriyama san. Tricky, tricky, tricky... Note to self: Check every character twice, and then double check that. 'Double-check Dubceck' they call him. 石橋を叩いて渡る Look before you leap. (?) Quote
what does that mean ? especially these words...........粗末 sound like " bad ", " rough " ? milt Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted November 14, 2008 Report Posted November 14, 2008 As you say above, Milt. "If it is the case that an extra letter found its way in there 'by mistake' then the whole thing must be pretty shoddy/untrustworthy/casual/careless", etc. Quote
andreYes Posted November 14, 2008 Author Report Posted November 14, 2008 ... If you don't like the tsuba, I would be willing to take it for you... No, no, no I like it. Even if this certificate is false. I'm just trying to understand if it is really the Momoyama Era. I've found a similar certificate here and I've understood that not each certificate can be trusted... Besides, I haven't found any information about Yoshishige... Quote
andreYes Posted December 10, 2008 Author Report Posted December 10, 2008 One more question about this tsuba: according to its certificate it's a Myochin school. Today I've found a similar tsuba. This tsuba is indicated there as "Kyo-tsukashi". I'm trying to understand... As I know, kyo-sukashi is a style and myochin is a school. So could a tsuba had been made by a craftsman from myochin school in kyo-sukashi style? Quote
