Brian Posted August 24, 2020 Report Posted August 24, 2020 A bit optimistic If anyone needed proof that many/most kogatana inscriptions are a homage/dedication, then here it is. Quote
Babu Posted August 24, 2020 Report Posted August 24, 2020 I've started to collect genuine Smith signed kogatana. I have a few now I missed one with sayagaki by Sato. I agree most are fantasy but there are many that are not. Quote
John Nelson Posted August 24, 2020 Author Report Posted August 24, 2020 Thank you for the responses .so I guess the mei is added to pay hommage? John N. Quote
Babu Posted August 24, 2020 Report Posted August 24, 2020 Yes just a homage in this case. Bear in mind maybe one in one thousand might be genuine. Look to the nakago and activities then the mei. They tend to remain true to the finish as if it were a full size sword. Some may be suriage of course. Quote
John Nelson Posted August 24, 2020 Author Report Posted August 24, 2020 Thank you very much for the information. I have another kogatana ,the mei is to faded to read , and looks like no temper. Am I right that this one has temper? Quote
