In the evening I was struggling with the fading daylight and the camera and etc.

Moritisugu Norisada, a lucky day in march 1942 I believe. The blade has some staining here and there, but also one of the nicer hamon I've ever seen live on a gendaito.

Allthough that doesn't say very much, because the Netherlands is not the best country to see lots of gendaito in hand. I thought I'd share it with you guys.

NORISADA (則定), Shōwa (昭和, 1926-1989), Fukuoka – “Moritsugu Norisada kinsaku” (守次則定謹作), real name Moritsugu Seikichi (守次清吉), he studied first under his grandfather and forged blades as a sideline to his actual profession as a smith for agricultural tools, from 1933 he entered a regular apprenticeship under Sakurai Masatsugu (桜井正次), it is said that he was a descendant of the kotō-era Chikuzen Moritsugu (守次), kihin-jōi (Akihide), Special Honor Seat at the 6th Shinsaku Nihontō Denrankai (新作日本刀展覧会, 1941)

Very nice work...great to see choji-gonome midare on WWII blades, It's amazing what turns up.

Hope I'm not distracting from the topic...but here's that hamon on my Tsukamoto Masakazu of Fukushima dated 4/1942...RJT smith but this one is no-star private order.

Enjoy,

PS  Brian, is that WWII polish on yours?

Thanks Brian, must just be the way you angled the light it for that photograph.

Leen, thank you - yes, a nice sword. They are still 'out there' waiting to be found.

Regards,
