Bungo Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 8.42 cm x8.30 cm x 0.50 cm looks like a famous Akasaka design ............ copy ? milt Quote
remzy Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 Looks legitimate to me, what did you had in mind Milt, see anything suspicious? The seppa day is a bit oddly shaped, so is the rim but it all look akasaka to me. Quote
Bungo Posted November 4, 2008 Author Report Posted November 4, 2008 From the Akasaka book ( # 20 , page 11 ), the mimi looks a bit " rounder " than this example............. but I think this is Edo period, just not sure if it can be attributed to any specific maker, so i call it Akasaka tsuba, school work. milt Quote
Martin Posted November 5, 2008 Report Posted November 5, 2008 Hi Milt, this is a classical Akasaka design (Shiguretei), but I think the piece posted is a copy. The Mimi is not rounded (an indicator for Akasaka school work) and the Seppa-Dai (its symmetry) looks weakly executed. In my opinion (only based on the pictures) this is a late copy of a very famous Akasaka design. Cheers, Quote
