jasongarabedian Posted June 30, 2020 Report Posted June 30, 2020 its been a while since I've posted here . Hope you're all doing well. I have in mind to buy this plain mumei tanto, however I wanted to know if you guys think its seen too many polishes or not? It's quite cheap by my standards. Jason G 1 Quote
Babu Posted June 30, 2020 Report Posted June 30, 2020 I like it but I think your right it's possible it's on its last polish. I have a very similar one and that's also on its final polish but I still get enjoyment from it. It's got great age and if it's affordable and inspirational then it's still got to be good for the soul. A polisher would give better advice though. Quote
Ken-Hawaii Posted June 30, 2020 Report Posted June 30, 2020 Not sure I'd put any money into it. Sure, it's a blade, but not a lot to be learned because of its condition. 1 Quote
jeremy Posted June 30, 2020 Report Posted June 30, 2020 Not sure if I can see any shintetsu to say its been over polished . But the nioiguchi doesn't seem bright, maybe that's just the pics, I can't say for sure . Its seen better days for sure. Quote
Mister Gunto Posted July 5, 2020 Report Posted July 5, 2020 To me, at least, it still seems to be a pretty solid blade. Lots of detail, but enough charcater to show age and use, and it just looks good (eye appeal). I wouldn't polish again. Quote
Surfson Posted July 5, 2020 Report Posted July 5, 2020 Don't know the size and quality of your collection, but if you like it and it's cheap (meaning you can resell it and get at least all of your money back) and you think you will enjoy it, then buy it. I agree with the others that I would not invest in a new polish. 1 Quote
Jamie Posted July 6, 2020 Report Posted July 6, 2020 Not in grate shape, but also probably not in poor shape. My biggest question would be if you can see details in the hamon. Personally I’d only buy this if you can see the activity in it. Quote
