Kurikata Posted June 17, 2020 Report Posted June 17, 2020 Hi Gents, this shakudo tsuba with nanako and summer plants design, in the shape of a "tachi " tsuba but with Hitsu Ana (therefore it is not a tachi tsuba) is puzzling me. Having some very small gold dots inserted, it could make me think having a goto influence. But I doubt Goto family did such tsuba, looking that way. What are you views? Thank you 2 Quote
Higo-san Posted June 17, 2020 Report Posted June 17, 2020 My guess would be early Edo Mino workmanship - neither the nanako nor the carving do look like Gotō to me. A really nice tsuba! Best Chris 2 Quote
suketaka Posted June 17, 2020 Report Posted June 17, 2020 And don't look like Ko-Kinko. Very nice Tsuba, i like it a lot! 1 Quote
Kurikata Posted June 18, 2020 Author Report Posted June 18, 2020 Thank you Chris and Michael for you interest. I take Chris option for an early Edo Edo Mino one. Trying to find similar ones on the net I was surprised,to face an "empty box". Does someone can share similar tsuba pictures ? Thank you Bruno Quote

Higo-san Posted June 20, 2020 Report Posted June 20, 2020 Bruno by using some Japanese kanji (Mino Tsuba = 美濃 鍔), you can find plenty of pictures via Google - like this one: https://blog.goo.ne.jp/tsuba_001/e/ff2d0e3ed1555c36fc0147c62b29aac2 Best Chris 1 Quote
SalaMarcos Posted June 20, 2020 Report Posted June 20, 2020 My guess is that if has a dai seppa, maybe could be Gôto work, but if its carved on the hira, I bet for Edo - Mino. Quote
Kurikata Posted June 21, 2020 Author Report Posted June 21, 2020 Thank you Sala Marcos for your insight. My tsuba is carved and their is no dai seppa which are separately added. As a conclusion there is a large tendency to consider this tsuba as Mino. Quote
