kiku Posted June 3, 2020 Author Report Posted June 3, 2020 Thanks for the wishes. I hope someone has some for sale. Quote
Ken-Hawaii Posted June 3, 2020 Report Posted June 3, 2020 My only advice is to get one in full polish. I tried for several years to find someone to polish my plain jumonji yari, but they all said it was too complex, & would take too long. 1 Quote
Ted Tenold Posted June 5, 2020 Report Posted June 5, 2020 Finding someone to polish one is possible, but be prepared to pay multiples of the cost per inch ratio. Most owners won't embrace that. Quote
baldi1942 Posted July 22, 2020 Report Posted July 22, 2020 I have one and great "mei" - it's in Japan now and has been polished and should be coming back soon (2yrs). polished thru Unique Japan but don't know who the polisher is/was. mei toshogengon sama (tokugawa posthumous name) _ Daimei oite Osakajo Kawachi no Kami Monju Kanesada tsukuru kore. think it's a posthumous dedication to Tokugawa. Kanesada is rated smith - this is the photos b4 polish. Not sure what papers it received either - these are not cheap if u can find them. I am not sure if these photos will show ? Tom W Quote
Ken-Hawaii Posted July 23, 2020 Report Posted July 23, 2020 Nice find, Tom. Looking forward to seeing the "After" photos. I'd also like to know who polished it, & the cost. Quote
baldi1942 Posted July 23, 2020 Report Posted July 23, 2020 I asked Pablo of Unique-Japan "who polished it?" but he does not know and said he goes thru a middleman - so ?? I first asked Jimmy Hayashi and a polisher in Japan but both turned me down and the Japanese polisher did not know of a polisher he could recommend. The cost was little over $2000. I've had the yari since the 80's and truthfully didn't pay much attention to it until I got to checking on these "chidori jumonji yari" and after realizing how rare they are and the inscription I decided to get it polished. Hopefully it will be coming home soon. . tom W Quote
Ken-Hawaii Posted July 23, 2020 Report Posted July 23, 2020 Can't wait to see the polished Jumonji! I was unsuccessful finding a polisher for mine, & quite trying years ago. Quote

Darin Steele Posted November 24 Report Posted November 24 Hey, I’ve got one like this, though even nicer. it’s in line to receive papers, a polish, and a new shaft. this thread is quite old so i’m not sure you’ll see this, but send me a message if you’re interested! 2 Quote
