goose710 Posted May 27, 2020 Report Posted May 27, 2020 Gentlemen This sword was bought a few years ago, and I was wondering , was he very prolific, and if so, does anyone have any examples of his work? Is he very popular etc , actually any info on him would be greatly appreciated Thanks in advance Charles L. i can't seem to turn the pics truely sorry Quote
DoTanuki yokai Posted May 27, 2020 Report Posted May 27, 2020 I think he was sakai ikkansai shigemasa's student who was mukansa. I cant remember more sorry Edit : Ohh its already in the information picture, i managed late to read it sideways. Quote
Surfson Posted May 27, 2020 Report Posted May 27, 2020 Looks a very nice blade, and yes, the ikkansai lineage is highly regarded (Joe or Chris can expand on this, I'm sure). Since that sword is 73 cm but looks short in the photo, I am guessing that it is a very stout, heavy and impressive blade in the hand. Quote
goose710 Posted December 11, 2020 Author Report Posted December 11, 2020 Thank you gentlemen for your answers, Just getting back into the site. Charles PS- had it dressed in Sunday best Quote
SteveM Posted December 12, 2020 Report Posted December 12, 2020 I think he's still alive and working. Or, maybe just now entering retirement, because as of 2019 he was accepting offers of new works. His website hasn't been updated in over a year, but here it is. Born in 1951...he is younger than, say, Paul McCartney. http://katana.art.coocan.jp/ Prolific and very skilled, I would say. 2 Quote
