Rivkin Posted May 3, 2020 Report Posted May 3, 2020 Dmitry posted a detailed and well researched (as expected I guess) lineage of Tsunahiro-Masahiro http://www.nihonto-museum.com/blog/soshu-tsunahiro Unfortunately over the years I let go of a few more Tsunahiro then I should have, as it seems they now do not stay in stores for any prolonged time. Here are couple of images of an example attributed to one of the generations. 4 Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted May 3, 2020 Report Posted May 3, 2020 This is interesting, thank you. I have a wakizashi attributed by NBTHK to Sue So-Shu Hirotsugu, about which I knew very little. This paragraph alone adds 50% more light. According to another records, Tsunahiro (1st generation) was an adopted son of Sōshū Hirotsugu (廣次) 4th generation. Hirotsugu (4th generation) was active around Tenbun era (天文, 1532-1555) and lived in Suruga province. Historically, there have been relationships between Shimada and Hirotsugu since the Hirotsugu 2nd generation, who lived in Shimada, according to records in old books. 3 Quote
Ken-Hawaii Posted May 3, 2020 Report Posted May 3, 2020 I like the way Dmitry writes, Kirill. Clear & concise, with easy offshoots to follow. Quote
Brian Posted May 3, 2020 Report Posted May 3, 2020 Dmitry's site is a MUST follow. He has just added more Soshu info. This is the closest you can study high end swords without having them in hand. I really can't praise him enough.Kiril (Btw, you are not excluded from the sign your posts rule ) that is a stunning example. Something about even the sugata is pure art. 2 Quote
Surfson Posted May 3, 2020 Report Posted May 3, 2020 Kirill, did you take that photograph? Whether yes or no, your work is fabulous. I wonder if Shimada will also see a surge in popularity with this trend? Quote
