John A Stuart Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 Hi All, Having just gotten off work for the season and too late to change my travel plans, I have been cleaning up reference materials. Over the years I have accumulated a lot (a real lot) of journals from the various nihonto groups ie. JSSUS, NBTHK, NCJSC etc., not withstanding other groups and wonder what you all do. My problems are 1) hours required to find certain articles within them, if I even can remember aprox. which year I recall it to lie in, usually giving up in frustration; 2) space required for storage, although this isn't critical yet it soon will be. So, what do you do? I hate to get rid of anything, from treasures to curiosities, swords to stamps. John Quote
b.hennick Posted October 21, 2008 Report Posted October 21, 2008 Hi John et al: Grey Doffin has made an index to sword literature. That would cover much of what you mentioned. You can easily look things up that way. The Index is available from the JSSUS and will soon be available on-line on the JSSUS web-site (http://www.jssus.org) I have many shelves of journals. I use them regularly. Quote
John A Stuart Posted October 21, 2008 Author Report Posted October 21, 2008 Hi Barry, I was aware of Grey's index, but, not that it includes journals. Thanks. Grey, if you read this do you up-date yearly, to stay current? John Quote
Grey Doffin Posted October 21, 2008 Report Posted October 21, 2008 John, I'm constantly updating my index. Currently, the periodicals that are included are: "Token Bijutsu" English edition complete, "Token Bijutsu" Japanese, maybe the last 6 years and only those articles for which I have translations, "The Afu Quarterly", Florida Token Kai "Newsletter" complete, JSS/US "Newsletter" from the early 80s on, and "Meito Zuikan" by Fujishiro (not complete). Don't buy the hard copy; it's out of date and soon will be obsolete. I'm close to having the current Index available to all on the JSS/US website. Grey Quote
