Rivkin Posted April 23, 2020 Report Posted April 23, 2020 Most of the photographs I take with someone else imply not displaying them in other means rather than publications. But there are obviously photographs which I use for other means as well. I have to admit one of those below is from the blade I tried to purchase on this message board. It did not work out in the end, my fault, but I took a picture when unpacking it. So here are six photos of five blades. All are influenced by Norishige. I think kantei-ing them more or less accurately based on such small segments alone would be extremely difficult. In fact one of the gentlemen here is not in a Meikan, which would ruin any fairness would this be a kantei competition. On top of that in roughly half of the cases the work is somewhat atypical (i.e. better than average). I can add however that one of these was favored by Kanzan Sato. But could be a nice opportunity for the willing to look into the interpretation of this school over the years. 15 Quote
Ken-Hawaii Posted April 23, 2020 Report Posted April 23, 2020 Wow! Gorgeous blades, & fantastic photography, Kirill! Quote
paulb Posted April 23, 2020 Report Posted April 23, 2020 excellent images Kirill. Personal favourites based on these are the second, first and fith. If I had to choose one I would struggle between the second and fith Quote
Oshy Posted April 23, 2020 Report Posted April 23, 2020 Based on average drool collected per image, #2 is the winner for me. Quote
Brian Posted April 23, 2020 Report Posted April 23, 2020 Shows how much the photography and the polish itself changes how we see things. That said, I would vote #5 if I had one choice. All are sublime. Quote
vajo Posted April 23, 2020 Report Posted April 23, 2020 2 and 4 is my favorite. Beautiful Kirill Quote

16k Posted April 28, 2020 Report Posted April 28, 2020 Lovely! #1 and 2 for me! If only I could get a sword like that! Quote
Brano Posted April 28, 2020 Report Posted April 28, 2020 Sometimes I have fun with myself, as I look at a few photos for 15 minutes and admire the "piece of steel". Matsukawa is amazing My favorite is blade number 3 (photos 3 and 4) Quote
Peter Bleed Posted April 28, 2020 Report Posted April 28, 2020 This has been a very useful thread. I knew the term. I had seen the hada, and understood it as a historical trait. But this presentation opened and clarified it for me. Thanks! Peter Quote
Brian Brooke Posted May 2, 2020 Report Posted May 2, 2020 It is very valuable and enjoyable to see photos such as these. Thank you for posting them. These all demonstrate "standing out hada" vs "coarse hada", correct? Is the proper term for this style matsukawa-hada? Brian Quote
Brian Brooke Posted May 4, 2020 Report Posted May 4, 2020 I suppose if it had read the title to this thread I would not have had to ask this idiotic question.Sorry. Quote
