Bungo Posted October 19, 2008 Report Posted October 19, 2008 take and you can pretend it's a Hiyashi. milt Quote
Guest nickn Posted October 19, 2008 Report Posted October 19, 2008 hiyashi 3 beers am i missing something? Quote
Brian Posted October 19, 2008 Report Posted October 19, 2008 I think Milt, in an effort to be increasingly obtuse and incomprehensible, is saying that after a bit of alcohol, this could start to look like a Higo Hayashi school tsuba. It's not though. See an example here Brian Quote
Guest nickn Posted October 19, 2008 Report Posted October 19, 2008 thanks guido i never assumed they were good just generic copies i have over 100 tsuba but have only ever bought one all the rest have been taken off swords parted out or sent for polish Quote
Guest nickn Posted October 19, 2008 Report Posted October 19, 2008 what about my shakudo tsuba with applied kiri mon any thoughts? Quote
Guido Posted October 19, 2008 Report Posted October 19, 2008 nickn said: thanks guidoi never assumed they were good just generic copies I wasn't talking about your Tsuba, just explaining what Milt was going at. I've seen Tsuba like you posted, and they were attributed to Aizu-Shôami. Not copies per se, just a very common motif. Quote
Guest nickn Posted October 19, 2008 Report Posted October 19, 2008 thanks guido so i was rightish about the school? ant thoughts on my shakudo kiri mon tsuba ? nick Quote

Bungo Posted November 1, 2008 Report Posted November 1, 2008 I believe I posted a similar sukashi tsuba I sniped off e-bay at a very low price and Ford actually like it ( judging from the pics and somehow the messages went AWOL after the crash of the servers ). An update..................... it's a CAST modaqn copy . I have since returned and get a refund , all I lost is the shipping charge and a reminder that, quoting Hill Street Blues, " let's be careful out there ". Milt Quote
Guest nickn Posted November 2, 2008 Report Posted November 2, 2008 whilst mine are of no great quality they are not modern cast copies do you still have photos? Quote
