Shipping sword to Belgium

Trying to ship a sword to Belgium from the US. Any special issues I should be aware of?

Expect delays, the postal service here and internationally is bogged down in spots.

I stopped in at the post office today to get a quote. The clerk had memo with list of new restricted shipping countries. I’ll ask for list tommorrow when I ship the sword.

I shipped a tsuba to Germany from California about a year ago. It took less than 3 days to get to Germany and then it disappeared in German customs for over a month then it was delivered out of the blue roughly a month and a half after it arrived in Germany

Rumor-wise I heard is that non-public guidance for basically all countries is to make sure the packages are held for at least a month at a warehouse.

EMS from Japan is now being slowly loaded on container ships.

A month would be overkill.  Not much reason to believe that the virus lives on surfaces more than three days or so.
