vajo Posted March 28, 2020 Report Posted March 28, 2020 I had no much experience with Army Kyu Gunto. Another collector who purchased this sword asked me if this is real or fake. I would go for real. Nice patina and guilding looks authentic. The blade doesn't look like typical chinese replica. But overall i have no clue about it because i didn't collect Kyu Gunto. Quote
PNSSHOGUN Posted March 28, 2020 Report Posted March 28, 2020 Real, I think the inscription was done in the field. 1 Quote
ChrisW Posted March 28, 2020 Report Posted March 28, 2020 Patina all looks real to me. Perhaps a custom order? 1 Quote
Gilles Posted March 28, 2020 Report Posted March 28, 2020 I used to have quite a lot. This is a real one. 1 Quote

vajo Posted March 28, 2020 Author Report Posted March 28, 2020 I think the inscription is the Dharma Wheel. Quote

Peter Bleed Posted March 28, 2020 Report Posted March 28, 2020 I agree with the "REAL" side of this discussion. And I agree that it is probably a a nice early Murata-to - which seem slowly to be finidng a legal place in the history of swords. The engraving on the back strap looks very interesting. Comparing it to a Sacred Treasure is interesting but I am not convinced. I wonder if it might be something like a city/town crest. And I suppose that it could be a family crest. This is a darn nice sword that deserves thorough research and restoration in Japan IMHO Peter 2 Quote
