swordnoob Posted March 19, 2020 Report Posted March 19, 2020 I was reading a forum about EMS restrictions a while back (http://www.militaria.co.za/nmb/topic/29668-ems-restrictions/) and also recently encountered some issues with my EMS shipment being returned back to sender. Has anyone else faced such issues recently? On a slightly unrelated note, has anyone bought nihonto from Sendico before? I messaged them and they said that they can ship to me, but their FAQ says they only use EMS which worries me... Quote
Ken-Hawaii Posted March 19, 2020 Report Posted March 19, 2020 Can you be a bit more specific on what you were shipping? A sword is more difficult to ship than a tsuba, for example. Quote
Brian Posted March 19, 2020 Report Posted March 19, 2020 Well..he does say Nihonto in the title It has become much more difficult. With EMS, there has to be a direct flight. If it goes via another country, forget it.If I were you, I would speak to Kelly (search the forum for his details) and ask him what he does. He is an expert in shipping out of Japan. Quote
BIG Posted March 19, 2020 Report Posted March 19, 2020 Kelly.. http://www.militaria.co.za/nmb/user/2256-Japan-auctions/ Best Quote
swordnoob Posted March 19, 2020 Author Report Posted March 19, 2020 Thanks for the replies. I'm shipping swords and not just fittings. With regards to EMS, I have no idea how to find out whether couriers use direct flights (although commercially there are direct flights between Canada and Japan). I've already gotten in touch with Kelly (joined his mailing list recently) and will contact him if seller still can't figure out how to export the swords. Quote
Rivkin Posted March 19, 2020 Report Posted March 19, 2020 No problem whatsoever with receiving EMS in the US, default shipping method. Kirill R. Quote
swordnoob Posted March 26, 2020 Author Report Posted March 26, 2020 Seller switched to FedEx after the package was rejected by EMS. Hopefully that works out... Quote
swordnoob Posted April 2, 2020 Author Report Posted April 2, 2020 Just got the swords. Had to pay for HST + $10 CAD brokerage fee to get the shipment cleared from customs, but other than that the process was smooth Quote
