Lance Posted March 9, 2020 Report Posted March 9, 2020 Hi all, after seeing another post I remembered this odd tang shape and I was wondering if anybody had or seen any actual examples out in the wild? Gohei Gata Gohei refers to its resemblance to the pieces of paper which are attached to the sacred straw rope festoon used within Shinto shrines. This is only seen in the work of swordsmith Isenokami Kuniteru during the Edo period. Regards, Lance 1 Quote
george trotter Posted March 9, 2020 Report Posted March 9, 2020 Yes, I have seen one only. About 30 years ago in a local auction there was a WWII gunto with (not too exciting) gendai blade (not well known smith. I forget the maker)... it was dated 1940-1945 period. Only one I have ever seen/had in hand...so, they are out there. Regards, 2 Quote
