Amahide   made on demand of Suzuki Akiji Kumo Shi

Made by WW2 sword smith 源天秀 -福本天秀 Fukumoto Amahide

 

Could you give me a value estimate of this sword?

 The Amahide factory made good quality non traditional swords, so I suggest having a trawl through the various sales sites to get an idea of what these go for.

 Or take it along to a militaria show and see what they offer.

Showa blade, Tip looks broken, without tsuka ito. Hmm i would say 500 - 600 Dollar. It is a project blade in my eyes.

Thank you all , i am just a beginner on katana swords struggling to even undestand the terms you use here (showa blade, tsuka ito , oil tempered) but with some googling i am learning things.

Guys I don't think the tip is broken, it's just tucked into the mat it's laying on. I've taken pictueres that gave that appearance, myself, and the tip was just stuck into the blanket I used.

 

It's a pretty blade, and I like the 8-seppa set. Don't know what you paid, or if you plan to keep or re-sell, but this piece might be worth having the tsuka re-wrapped. Just depends on your plans for it.

I dont intend to sell it , i just want to know a value estimate (because i am noobie at katana blades) , i am going to post a closer picture of the tip of the blade so you can judge better.

Yes, it is broken at the top. It could probably be rectified by a polisher, but the price wouldn’t be worth it for a gunto.

This is a special order sword.  Amahide, made tradionally made blades as well as showato.  All special order Amahide I have seen, are traditionally made.  If the blade is very dirty and you can't see any Hada,  look under the Habaki and around the Hamachi area.   Amahide's hand made blades, usually have a nice Mokume hada.

I found this symbol on the hilt of the sword , by a thread i saw in the site its called mon , anyone can explain what is a mon and what mon is mine?
