YOJIMBO Posted March 7, 2020 Report Posted March 7, 2020 either he is totally ignorant (as it lies on the ground), or he knows it's scrap. https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/o378651380 the seller has more weird items Quote
IanB Posted March 7, 2020 Report Posted March 7, 2020 My first impression was that this nio dou was a modern fake, but one image shows that it is modelled with lacquer, some of which has flaked off. Ian Bottomley Quote
YOJIMBO Posted March 7, 2020 Author Report Posted March 7, 2020 there are many pictures with lack but nice DO - somewhere on the street Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted March 7, 2020 Report Posted March 7, 2020 Looks genuine but in pretty bad condition. The daily-scrubbed concrete in front of a house will have been the cleanest, and lightest, place for a photograph. Quote
Anthony de Vos Posted March 8, 2020 Report Posted March 8, 2020 Hi! Nio dou rare but, as said, in a bad shape. 1940000 yen says that someone saw the potential and has the means to restore it. The seller have been pulling out plenty of kabuto and some masks. It is really a mixed bag. A mix of mundane things and real treasures. In the batch that sold two days ago, a kawari went for 2,5 miljon yen. There was a Bamen koboshi as well ????... Anthony 2 Quote
