Wondering on the professional opinion on this blade. This seller also runs katanacenter.com and when I searched it here I read their blades arent always legitimate. Or they can have the horimono added and the polisher is in Spain. It was also mentioned some of their items are legitimate. Have a second chance offer on it. Thoughts?

WW2 Guntō (軍刀)

 

Koshirae type 98

 

Antique Family blade with Buddhist protection Horimono

 

Blade:

 

Traditional antique forged blade.

 

Type of steel: Tamahagane (玉鋼)

 

- Nagasa - 64 cm

 

- Motohaba - 2,8 cm.

 

- Sori - 1,2 cm.

 

Hamon: Suguha

 

Hada: Itame

 

Mei: Mumei

 

Polishing: Very recent made by a master polisher (Togishi).

 

Condition: Very good in general, small faults in the Mune and a pair of unimportant micro fissures, with slight signs of their antiquity.

 

Buddhist protection and victory symbol (Bonji Hagunsho - Victory Star) engraved (Horimono)

 

Koshirae:

 

Shin Gunto type 98 model

 

Ito: New original Japanese for Gunto restored, army color.

 

Same: Ray Skin

 

Menuki Couple: Cherry blossoms

 

Habaki: Copper with a new polish

 

Saya: Wood covered of leather combat sheath.

 

Type Japanese WW2 Gunto Koshirae, restored and deep cleaned (by a Koshiraeshi master), refurbished the press fastener button only upper part. The upper Seppa is welded to Fuchi. Watch the detailed pictures please. Please, ask me for more pictures or details if you have any questions.

Since you offered three possibilities, I’d go with Frankensword. I believe everything is real but remounted. He kinda says so in this description by the way. Sword see,s antique but not that old,
