Blazeaglory Posted February 28, 2020 Report Posted February 28, 2020 I love how they're all flexing the different colors on their right arms. You think it's contemporary? https://www.ebay.com/itm/293372969746 Quote
Guest Posted February 28, 2020 Report Posted February 28, 2020 Hi Dwain, It looks like it has a little age, and has been relined and restored at some point, see where worm damage has been patched. The colours of the blues have that deep intense look of Aniline dyes, so I would hazard a wild guess, the original artwork c.1920 and the relining c.1970's. 1 Quote
Blazeaglory Posted February 29, 2020 Author Report Posted February 29, 2020 Darn, was hoping it was older. The detail is interesting tho. Each one has different Koshirae for Tachi but many of them have the same style Tanto. You can notice all the different family Mon as well and some pretty sweet beards/ mustache combos! Quote
SteveM Posted February 29, 2020 Report Posted February 29, 2020 Supposed to have been drawn by Maruyama Ōkyo. I have my doubts. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maruyama_%C5%8Ckyo 2 Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted February 29, 2020 Report Posted February 29, 2020 Until you can prove it is an original, safer to assume that it is a copy of some kind. 1 Quote
Blazeaglory Posted February 29, 2020 Author Report Posted February 29, 2020 Yah, I don't see any similarities. I just like it for its depiction of Bushi Quote
