Apercus Posted February 14, 2020 Report Posted February 14, 2020 I submitted a tanto for shinsa to the NTHK in Tampa last year and have not gotten around to translating the papers yet. I’m slow at that. The worksheet gave it 80 points. I was just curious if anyone here sees anything on the papers that would account for the 80 points. Shannon H. Quote
Ray Singer Posted February 14, 2020 Report Posted February 14, 2020 Shannon, please share a photo of the worksheet and kanteisho. Quote
Apercus Posted February 14, 2020 Author Report Posted February 14, 2020 Sorry, I thought I had attachments. I’ll add photos this evening when I get home. Shannon H. Quote
Apercus Posted February 14, 2020 Author Report Posted February 14, 2020 Maybe this will work. Shannon Quote
Curran Posted February 14, 2020 Report Posted February 14, 2020 Den Shimada. (島田). 80pt score is a solid Tokubetsu Hozon NBTHK equivalent. Those with an 81 or above score are considered candidates for Yushu, if sent to Japan. Given that it is mumei, it must be a very nice example. Quote
16k Posted February 14, 2020 Report Posted February 14, 2020 Photos of the blade please? I have a sudden interest in Shimada den stuff! Quote
Apercus Posted February 14, 2020 Author Report Posted February 14, 2020 I’ll add photos tonight. Shannon H Quote
raynor Posted February 15, 2020 Report Posted February 15, 2020 Congratulations, 80 is a very very good result. Did you receive your origami recently? I'm still waiting, the agent has gone radio silent since October. Quote
Curran Posted February 15, 2020 Report Posted February 15, 2020 Shimada stuff isn't considered first grade, especially as much of it was made during the heavy production period of the 1500s. Still, I like a lot of their O-tantos as being very underrated for the quality you get for the price. A fair number are signed, so 80pts for an unsigned one is a curious thing. I look forward to the pictures. 3 Quote
Ken-Hawaii Posted February 15, 2020 Report Posted February 15, 2020 Kirill will also be interested, as few of our blades received that many points. Quote
Tom Darling Posted February 15, 2020 Report Posted February 15, 2020 The work sheet would be helpful, please include. Peace. Tom D. Quote
Apercus Posted February 15, 2020 Author Report Posted February 15, 2020 Sorry for the delay and for the picture quality. I’m using a cell phone. I’ll send better photos later and dig out the worksheet. Shannon H Quote
