Ray Singer Posted January 30, 2020 Report Posted January 30, 2020 Blade and tsuba are Chinese fakes. Quote
raaay Posted January 30, 2020 Report Posted January 30, 2020 Mark already discussed on your other post , sorry as previously said both fakes, it maybe not the answer you were looking for !! if you have purchased this as a authentic Japanese sword , I would ask for a refund . Quote
Masamune Posted January 30, 2020 Author Report Posted January 30, 2020 The blade I thought was fake but the tsuba is signed looks like Japanese work also a Fuchi & Kashira & kozuka look genuine Quote
Ray Singer Posted January 30, 2020 Report Posted January 30, 2020 Yes, the tsuba is fake as well and does not resemble an authentic Japanese work. 1 Quote
Nobody Posted January 30, 2020 Report Posted January 30, 2020 Just think, who would assemble genuine Japanese fittings for such an ugly blade. 4 Quote
Ed Posted January 30, 2020 Report Posted January 30, 2020 Mark, No offense, but this is a textbook example of why new collectors should study more and buy less until they can, at the very least not be fooled by such blatant fakes. 3 Quote
Masamune Posted January 30, 2020 Author Report Posted January 30, 2020 Oh I didn’t buy anything 2 Quote
16k Posted January 30, 2020 Report Posted January 30, 2020 Nonetheless, Ed’s advice is a sound one. Read, read, read. It cannot be repeated enough. Then watch, and then, only then, buy! it will prevent you from doing the mistake most of us have done (I plead guilty, though my first purchase was still a genuine Seki Showato blade). Sadly, it’s in the nature of man to be impatient! 3 Quote
