vajo Posted January 20, 2020 Report Posted January 20, 2020 Any Idea about this tanto. I think its Meiji/Showa or very late Edo. I tried to figure out wich school or smith it could by. The yasurime is well carved. Straight lines but no other decoration. What you think? Quote
SAS Posted January 20, 2020 Report Posted January 20, 2020 Nice blade; the photos do not allow a very good analysis of the nakago...what is up with the transition from the nakago to the habakidai, seems to be a filed elevation change. 1 Quote
Ken-Hawaii Posted January 20, 2020 Report Posted January 20, 2020 Nice blade, Chris. Closeups of the nakago will help, & I can't tell if that's jihada or surface scratches. Quote
pica Posted January 20, 2020 Report Posted January 20, 2020 The blade is very nice. But was on sell on Ebay and there was the photo of torokusho where result the nakago was signed and not mumei. I thick the mei was removed and the yasurime changed. 1 Quote
SAS Posted January 21, 2020 Report Posted January 21, 2020 How do you know it is the same blade? Link? Quote
Alex A Posted January 21, 2020 Report Posted January 21, 2020 The relatively long Kaeri is a decent clue Chris. Quote
pica Posted January 21, 2020 Report Posted January 21, 2020 How do you know it is the same blade? Link? The link was removed from ebay, but i have the photos of the blade where is cleary visible the yasurime are changed 3 Quote
vajo Posted January 21, 2020 Author Report Posted January 21, 2020 Stefano, did you kow what was described? Looks like the overview picture is from AOI-Arts. Looks really that the mei was removed. Quote
SAS Posted January 21, 2020 Report Posted January 21, 2020 That is the only reason i can see for that level of modification, but still, why so aggressive? Quote
ROKUJURO Posted January 21, 2020 Report Posted January 21, 2020 I cannot see a signature or remains of it under the dirt. Quote
DoTanuki yokai Posted January 21, 2020 Report Posted January 21, 2020 When i saw it on ebay i thought it was the upper part of a hira zukuri wakizashi o-suriage. Edit: i also think i can see mizukage on the fourth picture Stefano posted. Quote
vajo Posted January 22, 2020 Author Report Posted January 22, 2020 I see it too. I refer from buying that blade. Its to expensive in my thoughts. Thanks for helping 1 Quote
Blazeaglory Posted January 22, 2020 Report Posted January 22, 2020 Would that be a yoroi doshi? It looks pretty healthy and thick Quote
