Bruce Pennington Posted January 5, 2020 Report Posted January 5, 2020 Trystan posted this on the "Arsenal Stamps" thread because of the hotstamp on the nakago. Anyone recognize it, or have an idea of it's meaning? The dirk itself seems to have been shortened from the tip. Ohmura-san's example is quite a bit longer, and from this picture, you cans see the blade is much shorter than the saya. 2 Quote
Blazeaglory Posted January 12, 2020 Report Posted January 12, 2020 Very interesting. The Japanese made swords out of the gun from the battleship "Mikasa" which was damaged during the Russo Japan war in 1904. Quote

ROKUJURO Posted January 13, 2020 Report Posted January 13, 2020 A quite nostalgic fashion which is still used today just for the sake of sales ( https://www.boker.de/leopard-damast-i-110084dam?c=5323; https://www.boker.de/tirpitz-damast-110190dam?c=5326). The special steel for guns has only low carbon content and has to be combined with other carbon-loaded steel for blade-making. 1 Quote
