Ray Singer Posted December 20, 2019 Report Posted December 20, 2019 Does anyone here happen to have reference for a gendai smith named Morimichi? I was visited by a young new collector at my office yesterday with a recent acquisition that he actually picked at Gold & Silver Pawn, Las Vegas. I don't see any reference to this smith or kao. The blade is dated Showa 13. Quote
Ray Singer Posted December 21, 2019 Author Report Posted December 21, 2019 Still looking for information on this smith. Thank you again, Ray Quote
Brian Posted December 21, 2019 Report Posted December 21, 2019 Is it dated Ray?Hoping we don't have a Komonjo-to here. Quote
Ray Singer Posted December 21, 2019 Author Report Posted December 21, 2019 Nope, not remotely a Komonjo special. Dated blade (Showa 13) with horimono and special ordered for Maeda shi. Quote
celt72 Posted December 21, 2019 Report Posted December 21, 2019 I found a listing for him in Fuller & Gregory's Guide to Shows Swordsmith's. I know this probably won't help much. 5 Quote
celt72 Posted December 21, 2019 Report Posted December 21, 2019 Ray, Looks like he is also listed in the translated index to Tokyo Kindai Tosho on Richard Stein's Japansese Sword Guide site. You might reach out to Chris Bowen and see if he has any info on him. I hope this helps. 5 Quote

lambo35 Posted December 23, 2019 Report Posted December 23, 2019 Ray, I recently purchased a flexible gouge device for wood carving from China that attaches to a Dremel tool. The signature on the nakago looks as though it could have been made by the same type of tool. Just a WAG. Quote
Ray Singer Posted December 23, 2019 Author Report Posted December 23, 2019 No Chuck, this is a normally chiseled mei. 1 Quote
