SAS Posted December 19, 2019 Report Posted December 19, 2019 https://www.ebay.com/itm/303395121758?_trksid=p2471758.m4704 I just won this auction; it had a nice sabi feel to it so i went for it. As I am a non tsuba expert, can you please share your thoughts on this, help with signature, age, school? It looks ko or sue tosho made to my non expert opinion. Thanks.... Quote
SAS Posted December 19, 2019 Author Report Posted December 19, 2019 Thank you Guido; any feeling for shoshin or not? I will do some internet searching, as I have no tosogu references. Quote
SAS Posted December 19, 2019 Author Report Posted December 19, 2019 After some brief searches, it is obvious to me that it is not THE Nobuie; out of the 15 Haynes identifies, can it be said which one this might be? Quote
Guido Posted December 19, 2019 Report Posted December 19, 2019 Hint: I wrote "inscribed", not " signed" ... 2 Quote
ROKUJURO Posted December 19, 2019 Report Posted December 19, 2019 Steve,I like your TSUBA! but you should forget that it is signed! No TOSHO, but good for mounting. 1 Quote
JohnTo Posted December 19, 2019 Report Posted December 19, 2019 I have several Nobuie tsuba in my collection, they are in great condition and look as if they were made yesterday, or in the 19thC at the latest! The famous 16thC Nobuie (maybe two generations) is probably the most copied, signed, tsuba artist of all. But to be fair, generally, the copies are still nice tsuba. Regards, John 1 Quote
