Gilles Posted December 8, 2019 Report Posted December 8, 2019 Dear Patrick, I doubt that it is a Japanese signature. Look Chinese to me....... 3 Quote
ChrisW Posted December 8, 2019 Report Posted December 8, 2019 It looks like it was cut with a dremel and then some chemical tarnishing/blackener applied. 1 Quote
Ganko Posted December 8, 2019 Report Posted December 8, 2019 I agree with Gilles, also the signature is engraved (material carved out) rather than stamped in with the point of a chisel. This is not normal for Japanese signatures, but there are some exceptions such as "Hankei". 1 Quote
Patricku81 Posted December 9, 2019 Author Report Posted December 9, 2019 Ohwell that was a risk it was fake, thank you Quote
SAS Posted December 9, 2019 Report Posted December 9, 2019 The absence of yasurime (file marks) on the nakago are a it of a red flag as well.... 1 Quote
Patricku81 Posted December 9, 2019 Author Report Posted December 9, 2019 It was sold as a ww2 era with unknow signature, can signature be explained if mass produced in 40 s? Quote
Patricku81 Posted December 9, 2019 Author Report Posted December 9, 2019 Still curious what text say Quote
ROKUJURO Posted December 9, 2019 Report Posted December 9, 2019 It was sold as a ww2 era with unknown signature, can signature be explained as mass produced in 40 s? No, there is nothing of Japanese origin visible. Instead, several 'red flags' for bad fake. 1 Quote

O-Midare Posted December 9, 2019 Report Posted December 9, 2019 The wrap on tsuka is wrong. It doesn't alternate. Quote
SAS Posted December 9, 2019 Report Posted December 9, 2019 Tsuka wrap and kashira are wrong, also the tsuba is not WW2 issue; I am sure more photos of the blade would confirm the sword is not Japanese. Hope it was not expensive; you can cut pool noodles with it maybe Quote
