Hello I’m john ashworth I was told to join this forum by a friend to see if someone could help me find out when this sword was made we know the smith as above but not sure about the rest here are some pictures of the tang thank you any help will be appreciated john a.

i hope,  it was not yourself  that  cleaned the  Nakago / Tang , because it has been over cleaned , not sure obviously of your level of experience collecting Japanese swords ? but check the care and maintenance recommendations on the NMB.

Yup. Two rules of life. Never play cards with a cheetah, and never clean the good black rust off a Nakago.

hi thankyou very much for your information I’m totally new to this forum and how it works could you help me some more please and tell me where I would be able to find out more information on the maker and the dates he was making swords any help would be much appreciated thank you again John Ashworth.

On googling this smith seems to the 8th generation Nagamichi working around the Bunka-Ansei eras (1860s)
