HannesT Posted November 30, 2019 Report Posted November 30, 2019 Hello everyone, I would like to ask your opinion about a supposed antique Higo Tsuba (Mumei, late Edo) The motive is quite famous, but it differs from the well-known design "crescent moon“. The condition seems very good. Genuine? This measures about 3 1/8" high, 2 7/8" wide and 1/8" deep, inside 1 1/8" high, 1/4" wide and 1/8" deep Any additional information about the maker and year would be very helpful. Thank you Hannes Quote
Ford Hallam Posted November 30, 2019 Report Posted November 30, 2019 IMO, modern hobby work, not very skilfully made. Mild steel, weak patina and probably only year or so old. 6 Quote
Martin Posted November 30, 2019 Report Posted November 30, 2019 My guts and eyes also say not old, no signs it has ever been mounted. Shape and position of the Kogai and Kozuka Hitsu also look strange to me. 1 Quote
Ganko Posted November 30, 2019 Report Posted November 30, 2019 Modern replica suitable for iaido. 1 Quote
