Runt Posted November 29, 2019 Report Posted November 29, 2019 Hi, I'm very new to this hobby and have the option to purchase on this item. Could someone please shed some light on the text on this Tsuka? Any assistance will be much appreciated . Quote
IJASWORDS Posted November 29, 2019 Report Posted November 29, 2019 Does not look Japanese to me. Quote
Runt Posted November 29, 2019 Author Report Posted November 29, 2019 Thanks Neil, I suspected that. Would you mind also giving your opinion on a different post of mine ( No markings on the Tsuka) http://www.militaria.co.za/nmb/topic/30429-info-needed-on-the-classification-on-this-swordblade/ Quote
raaay Posted November 29, 2019 Report Posted November 29, 2019 Not a Tsuka but a pic of the tang , and not Japanese , do not waste your money on this ? just my two pence worth, Quote
uwe Posted November 29, 2019 Report Posted November 29, 2019 Apart of that, the “text”, (大通生), makes little sense.... Quote
Geraint Posted November 29, 2019 Report Posted November 29, 2019 First time I have seen yasurime applied with a fly cutter! Run, run fast, run far. All the best. Quote
Brian Posted November 29, 2019 Report Posted November 29, 2019 Ridiculously bad fake nakago. Agree, it was machined, and hot stamped. Quote
IJASWORDS Posted November 30, 2019 Report Posted November 30, 2019 Danie, in the Nihonto related topics section, there is s topic , 10 commandments of nihonto. I added another, read and research before you buy. So far all the swords you have been interested in are Chinese crap. Get some books , Google, search the NMB. But don't be afraid to consult the NMB , and asking for help, no matter what you have found . 2 Quote
Ken-Hawaii Posted December 1, 2019 Report Posted December 1, 2019 Even better, take a look at the For Sale section of NMB, Danie. You aren't likely to get cheated there! But, Neil is 100% correct - go buy some reference books! A quick search on NMB will give you quite a number of recommendations. Then, spend some time time studying, so you will have a better chance of recognizing good from the morass of bad. Quote
