Lacquer hanbo mask, Edo period?

I need your help - when this mask was made?

It lacquer(tataki nuri?) mask a large size, 15.5*12 cm

Have inscription inside(maybe signature of master?)

I´m almost sure it´s iron Piers.

Left column last characters might be "...右衛門". Without any warranty....

 

.....and could start with "仕立九....", hence we have in this case "仕立九右衛門"?! Only a guess...

The right-hand signature attests to the groundwork, the Shitaji, and the left-hand artisan signs for his finishing work. Shitateya can mean a tailor or dressmaker.

The left side seems indeed "仕立九右衛門" (Shitate Kyū’emon)

 

Well, I´ve to admid, that I got some help with the right column, because I stucked with kanji 3,4 and 5....

However, it did substantialy increacing my learning curve, thanks Markus!

 

"下地源右衛門" (Shitaji Gen’emon)....well done with the initially idea Piers!!!

 

In the end, we have an Iwai mask, done by two makers. One for the ground work and another for the finish. Consulting the SKM, Gen’emon is placed early Edo. Hence, I might be wrong with my first impression, astonishing......
