shibeni Posted November 24, 2019 Report Posted November 24, 2019 Hello, is somehow strange kanji for "Kane", with no foot (line)? Dated 1943, Nagoya arsenal stamps. Thanx, Bojan S. Quote
Bruce Pennington Posted November 24, 2019 Report Posted November 24, 2019 Quite an interesting Rinji (type 3) rig! Love the white ito! Is that a steel menkugi or is it a screw? I found a Seki Kanenori listed in the RJT smith list on Japaneseswordindex.com, don't know if it is the same guy. No Star stamp, though? If it is the same guy, it is well known that many of the smiths made both gendaito and showato. Someone more knowledgable in the smiths will have to answer your question about the kanji. Quote
reeder Posted November 24, 2019 Report Posted November 24, 2019 There are tons of WWII blades made by Kanenori & his students/workers. Not all were made or signed by him. Nothing is wrong w/ the Kane having the line like that, it's still Kanenori. I've had both seki & star stamped blades by this smith. Even in mint condition, none of them were too exciting. He has a high rating in Slough's so his swords seem to get more interest than typical factory smiths from WWII, but I can't say that I agree w/ the rating from the countless examples I've come across. They're definitely no where near other 1 mil. yen rated smiths. 3 Quote
