snort Posted November 8, 2019 Report Posted November 8, 2019 One of the threaded pins that fasten the Tsuka on my koshirae. Where can I research and purchase a replacement? Please excuse my ignorance, I have very little background in this area. (mods, move to the correct forum if necessary) TIA, george Quote
Ray Singer Posted November 8, 2019 Report Posted November 8, 2019 Type-3 gunto screws. http://www.militaria.co.za/nmb/topic/23178-i-am-looking-for-a-screw/ For the short term, best to make a mekugi out of a short length of bamboo chopstick. Quote
snort Posted November 9, 2019 Author Report Posted November 9, 2019 Hummmmm On closer inspection I can see that there is no threads in the second hole. Your chopstick suggestion is looking better, Ray. tnx, george Quote
Bruce Pennington Posted November 9, 2019 Report Posted November 9, 2019 George, that very well may be. One of my Type 3 (Rinji) models did'nt have a metal plate on the far side. I had to use bamboo. But you might try a screw to find out. The plate is a very thin sheet metal, and theoretically, the hole in the wood will be the same size as the hole in the metal, so it might not be real obvious peaking through from the other side. Akitombo Posted November 9, 2019 Report Posted November 9, 2019 Hi, Is this what you require, found it in my odds box. David Quote
snort Posted November 10, 2019 Author Report Posted November 10, 2019 I can't tell, David. I have no idea what the part that was there looked like. I thought it was a threaded screw but, like I said in post #3, there doesn't seem to be any threaded section in the second hole (furthest from the tsuba). Is what you have pictured a two part threaded connector? george Quote
Brian Posted November 10, 2019 Report Posted November 10, 2019 David, I think George needs one of the screws that is basically the second mekugi. You have the part that the sarute goes through I think? 1 Quote
