Bjj Posted October 25, 2019 Report Posted October 25, 2019 Guy wants sell me this for $265.00 shipped .Just like some opinions I have my own but interested see opinion with more experience then me. Quote
SAS Posted October 25, 2019 Report Posted October 25, 2019 Kind of rough, isn't it? Still, the price is low; with the savings, a polish or window may be helpful. I do not think everything is original to the blade. Some remainder of possibly takanoha yasurimei may point to older Mino work, and i can see an indication of notare or gunome hamon remaining. Quote
Sly Posted October 25, 2019 Report Posted October 25, 2019 I would pass my turn on a such tired blade Christian. Moreover, nothing interesting regarding the fittings. Hopping that a polish could rehab the blade is risky. Yes, the price is low. But it's just what it's worth. Not an hidden treasure for sure. Quote
16k Posted October 25, 2019 Report Posted October 25, 2019 Well, for the price, you’re not taking a great risk. The blade looks genuine if in bad condition. I’d cave. The only thing I really don’t like is the nakago. Not healthy at all! Quote
ChrisW Posted October 25, 2019 Report Posted October 25, 2019 A risky gamble, but it is a good price. But that nakago is definitely dog-eared! Quote
Ganko Posted October 25, 2019 Report Posted October 25, 2019 You cannot make a silk purse from a sows ear. Do yourself a favor and save your money. Better to pay more for something considerably better IMHO. Quote
Grey Doffin Posted October 26, 2019 Report Posted October 26, 2019 Hi Christian, I agree with Tom. If you buy this what are you going to do with it? There is nothing here to be happy about, at any price, nothing to look at more than once. Save your money and buy something worth owning. Grey 3 Quote
Ken-Hawaii Posted October 26, 2019 Report Posted October 26, 2019 If you keep collecting, the way you learn is by looking at & studying good blades - this isn't one of them. I'd pass. Quote
SAS Posted October 26, 2019 Report Posted October 26, 2019 Tough crowd! We do support preservation, right? It would not be cool if it got sold to some guy who was going to turn it into a Bowie knife. Some of us had to start at the bottom; this blade may be the bottom, but it would be a start. It may not have much up potential, but..... 1 Quote
