Fumei Posted October 19, 2019 Report Posted October 19, 2019 Hi All. What do you think about this one?Photos of only this quality, unfortunately. Thanks in advance. Vladimir. Quote
Fuuten Posted October 19, 2019 Report Posted October 19, 2019 Fwiw, Looks like.. how to be subtle, junk. Quote
16k Posted October 19, 2019 Report Posted October 19, 2019 Can’t say I like it. Genuine blade badly remounted. I don’t know if the blade is any good but out of polish and I don’t think it’s worth having it polished. Quote
PNSSHOGUN Posted October 19, 2019 Report Posted October 19, 2019 Junk blade remounted in garbage fittings, avoid like the plague! Quote
ROKUJURO Posted October 19, 2019 Report Posted October 19, 2019 The signature was probably made with a screwdriver. Not Japanese! The KOJIRI might be the only item of interest. FUCHI and SEPPA look like over-cleaned with sandpaper or a steel-wire brush. Quote
Ganko Posted October 19, 2019 Report Posted October 19, 2019 It has little merit except for the kojiri. Quote
Ken-Hawaii Posted October 19, 2019 Report Posted October 19, 2019 Vladimir, if you're only looking at local blades, you really need to expand your searches! Quote
Fumei Posted October 20, 2019 Author Report Posted October 20, 2019 Thank you All for your opinion and for your experience.A few more questions. Is this blade original or is it a Chinese fake? How is the signature read? Quote
SteveM Posted October 20, 2019 Report Posted October 20, 2019 The signature is a very, very poor rendering of 正宗 (Masamune). 1 Quote

I thought “damn! That’s what they were going at!” Somewhere in the great void, Masamune must be rolling on the floor, laughing. To reply to the question, I personally believe the blade is genuine, but one of those project piece that’s actually not worth the project. It’s probably a low grade, real blade, but I’m not the best qualified here to reply. However, it doesn’t look like a Chinese blade to me, and I have seen many. 1 Quote
