Danny Posted October 27, 2006 Report Posted October 27, 2006 Hello all, I have just added a wonderful article by Allan H. Pressley to my web site. It is "The Koto Bingo Mihara School". Please take a look at the link below. http://www.nihontocraft.com/japanese_sw ... icles.html Best regards, Danny Massey http://www.nihontocraft.com Quote
John A Stuart Posted October 27, 2006 Report Posted October 27, 2006 Great article Danny, It gives me food for thought on the o-suriage ko-mihara that I have. Mine shows none of the activities in the jihada mentioned being a very tight itame. So tight the chirimen description becomes possible but with no roughness mentioned. This tachi is very heavy as swords go and makes me believe it was carried by attendants to battle. The motohaba and sakihaba are both 0.7cm, pretty robust, I must say. Anyhow, keep 'em coming. Danny Posted October 28, 2006 Author Report Posted October 28, 2006 HI John, Thank you for your feedback. Ko-mihara are often wonderful. Lucky you :-) Does yours have a tiger tail or waterfall return to the boshi ? High Shinogi ? Yamato style hataraki in the hamon ( uchinoke, hakikake and nijuba ) Nioi deki with ko nie ? Just curious and its fun to apply our leaning to blades at hand. Thanks Best regards, Danny Quote
John A Stuart Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 Hi Danny, The hamon is hososuguba and very hard to see activity within. No nijuba for certain. There is nie along the edge of a nioi matrix. The boshi is omaru. A very simple blade . It has a bohi that was added, I think, later to reduce weight. I wish I could have seen it before it was cut. Danny Posted October 28, 2006 Author Report Posted October 28, 2006 Hi John, Thank you for sharing additional information about your Ko-Mihara. It sounds very nice. I tend to be attracted to blades that are function focused and not flamboyant. Best regards, Danny Quote
