CSM101 Posted October 7, 2019 Author Report Posted October 7, 2019 I don´t know. It used to be a 30 sec. walk. But since they moved their location... Will you be there? Uwe G. Quote
vajo Posted October 7, 2019 Report Posted October 7, 2019 I don't think. There are only 3 Tsuba i would be interested, but i think they will be go high and the starting price is not low. Quote
Stephen Posted October 7, 2019 Report Posted October 7, 2019 Lol way i see them ther is only three or five i dont like. Lucky im not a rich man. Id have so much more stuff. 2 Quote
Brian Posted October 7, 2019 Report Posted October 7, 2019 I was also thinking that there isn't a lot there that I would kick out of bed.I'd be happy with most of it.Mind you...looking through that entire auction catalog of all the arms available, I constantly feel like I should just chuck in the towel on arms collecting. Every item is way better than anything I have owned. Sigh. 1 Quote
CSM101 Posted October 7, 2019 Author Report Posted October 7, 2019 In a few days there will be a better online-catalogue. So you can zoom in for details. I made only a few photos for my personel tsuba archive. Enjoy! Uwe G. 3 Quote
Stephen Posted October 7, 2019 Report Posted October 7, 2019 I have a crane and waves tsuba...to have one with that quality would be the bees knees. 1 Quote
paulb Posted October 7, 2019 Report Posted October 7, 2019 Brian It is a fact for all collecting that there is always something out of reach. I have lusted after so many pieces that I could never hope to include in a collection that I have lost count. At the DTI a few years ago I came away with exactly the same frustration you describe and thought it was time to move on to something else. Thankfully I didn't. If I had I would have missed out on hours of pleasure looking at what I have in detail. A gardening friend of mine once said to me "just because you see some prize blooms at a show that are better than yours you don't go home and dig up what you have grown. You stop and enjoy them for what they are." Same is true for swords or anything else they may not be an ultimate masterpiece but they can still be damn good! 4 Quote

Peter Bleed Posted October 7, 2019 Report Posted October 7, 2019 This is a bit beyond what I regularly encounter in my retirement home! There is an item I would like to take a run at. I have not history with this firm but is someone from the NMB going to be there and could someone carry a bid? Peter Quote
Alex A Posted October 7, 2019 Report Posted October 7, 2019 It is a fact for all collecting that there is always something out of reach. Think this is the reason most of us are still interested. 1 Quote
Brian Posted October 7, 2019 Report Posted October 7, 2019 That is true Paul. But sometimes it feels like you have gone to a flower show, and discovered that all you have at home are weeds 5 Quote
Ganko Posted October 7, 2019 Report Posted October 7, 2019 Wow,some fantastic high quality items there. I am drooling. Quote
paulb Posted October 7, 2019 Report Posted October 7, 2019 thats true Brian but in this modern new age re-invented hippy world growing weeds is good! 2 Quote
Surfson Posted October 7, 2019 Report Posted October 7, 2019 I can definitely find several that I would like to bid on, and in general, it is a nice collection. Please send us the link when the better online catalog comes out. I would like to see them up close. Is it easy to bid and ship from Germany if one lives in the US? Quote
Ken-Hawaii Posted October 8, 2019 Report Posted October 8, 2019 Is it easy to bid and ship from Germany if one lives in the US? Just the question I was going to ask. Bidding is often easy, but getting a won item shipped safely can be a real hassle. 2 Quote
terminus Posted October 8, 2019 Report Posted October 8, 2019 I’ve been saving up a half a year to fight for that crane tsuba Uwe ????. Hope it will be enough lol. Already bought this book. Can’t wait to see some higher res photos once it arrives. Btw, is this auction online or do I have to be there physically? Quote
Greg F Posted October 9, 2019 Report Posted October 9, 2019 Some very nice tsuba there. On page 176 the habaki on the wakizashi is very ornate. Greg Quote
Peter Bleed Posted October 9, 2019 Report Posted October 9, 2019 A couple of of more ore less specific items have been mentioned. And I really don't think that that I will make a run at either of the "Japanese" items that are attracting my attention, so let me say that folks might be interested in items 3815 and 3790 Peter Quote
Vermithrax16 Posted October 9, 2019 Report Posted October 9, 2019 There is not one (Nihonto wise) I would bid one save one, the possible Teruaki everyone loves. Would think Bavarian Industrialists would get better access to better stuff. 1 Quote
francois2605 Posted October 12, 2019 Report Posted October 12, 2019 This catalog contains a lot of really nice tsubas. The quality is much higher than what I've seen so far in french auctions. Quote
Ken-Hawaii Posted October 13, 2019 Report Posted October 13, 2019 Again, are there any notes on shipping an item, once it's won? Quote
Guido Posted October 13, 2019 Report Posted October 13, 2019 Again, are there any notes on shipping an item, once it's won? If I understand the “terms & conditions” on their homepage correctly, they do ship worldwide. To be on the safe side, you might want to send them an e-mail. Quote
Ken-Hawaii Posted October 13, 2019 Report Posted October 13, 2019 Thanks, Guido. If I had seen an English translation, I might have thought about doing that, but assumed everything was in German. Quote
francois2605 Posted October 13, 2019 Report Posted October 13, 2019 Ken, if you download the PDF of the catalog (253 MB), you'll find the "conditions of sale" (in english) in pages 30 and 31. 1 Quote
Ken-Hawaii Posted October 13, 2019 Report Posted October 13, 2019 Thanks, Francoise. I had paged right over those pages. Did you happen to notice if they accept PayPal? I didn't see anything specific to payment methods. In fact, I couldn't find any specifics on payment, other than an anonymous reference to credit cards. Quote
francois2605 Posted October 13, 2019 Report Posted October 13, 2019 Apparently they do. Login onto their website, then "Your account", "Your data", "Payment methods". You'll find 4 options: - Credit card - Paid in advance - Pay in cash on collection - Paypal Quote
Ken-Hawaii Posted October 13, 2019 Report Posted October 13, 2019 I may be there, but everything is in German! I'm signed up, but am puzzling my way through what I'm seeing. Amazed that there are no choices for other languages. Quote
francois2605 Posted October 13, 2019 Report Posted October 13, 2019 You should be able to switch language at the top of the screen. Can you see this ? Edit: This is the link to the page. Quote
