Misterbovigoren Posted September 28, 2019 Author Report Posted September 28, 2019 I see. Where did you have yours polished, if I may ask?? Thank you again to all who have offered me insight. I cannot tell you enough how much it means to me!! Quote
Bruce Pennington Posted September 28, 2019 Report Posted September 28, 2019 David Hifine - http://6muncodqjvmdpowvj6egtg-on.drv.tw/kensei/ It’ Run you over $2,000, but it was worth it to me. Quote
Misterbovigoren Posted September 28, 2019 Author Report Posted September 28, 2019 Thank you Bruce! Your sword turned out gorgeous. Quote
reeder Posted September 28, 2019 Report Posted September 28, 2019 Why bother with a polish on this one? It looks like it’s in good original wartime polish, I don’t see a need to polish it. Definitely doesn’t make sense financially. 4 Quote
Misterbovigoren Posted September 28, 2019 Author Report Posted September 28, 2019 I was just curious, I have other swords in mind, but none that would merit that kind of price tag. Not yet anyway ???? Quote
David Flynn Posted September 28, 2019 Report Posted September 28, 2019 Bruce, you do realise David Hofline isn't a trained Togishi? 1 Quote
PNSSHOGUN Posted September 28, 2019 Report Posted September 28, 2019 Trained Togishi don't usually polish non-traditional blades. 1 Quote

I appreciate all the feedback!!! I am still curious if anyone else has or has seen one with a wood scabbard? Just doing a bit of trawling tonight and I chanced upon George Trotter's article (in the Articles section) about his collection which I think is well-worth reading for people following this thread, mentioning as he does wooden scabbards... http://www.militaria.co.za/articles/Swords_from_Trotter_Collection.pdf BaZZa. 2 Quote
IJASWORDS Posted September 28, 2019 Report Posted September 28, 2019 Wow, great document with detailed descriptions and photos . A great way to preserve your sword's history and data. Thanks Bazza for reproducing it, and thanks George for the article . 1 Quote
PNSSHOGUN Posted September 28, 2019 Report Posted September 28, 2019 That was a great read, George has done up something really special here, hopefully there's a few more swords to add to it by now! The recent thread about what happens to our collections when we inevitably kick the bucket has me thinking doing one up for myself would be a smart move. 2 Quote

David, I had heard similar things like John stated, like Mantetsu are too hard so traditionalists don't like to use their stones on them. So I checked with Hofhine and he happily accepted the job. Very pleased with his work. Quote
Misterbovigoren Posted September 28, 2019 Author Report Posted September 28, 2019 Thank you Bazza!! I cannot thank everyone enough for everything, you have all made a world of difference to me, and it is much appreciated! Quote
