Yuradneprov Posted September 16, 2019 Report Posted September 16, 2019 Does this look like a real mei ? Quote
christianmalterre Posted September 16, 2019 Report Posted September 16, 2019 it does very certainly not look like a Rai Kunitoshi here.... maybe some good old pictures shall help ? there are hundreds on Rai and Rai Kunitoshi existing in international and especially on Japanese sites! a real Rai Kunitoshi is somehow equivalent to the big M... so far.... Google! me Quote
Ray Singer Posted September 16, 2019 Report Posted September 16, 2019 It would be helpful to see a clear vertical shot of the mei, but yes it is certain that this is gimei. Quote
Ray Singer Posted September 16, 2019 Report Posted September 16, 2019 BTW, the sword appears to be extremely tired and flawed. I see what appears to be tsukare-utsuri, shinae, coarse hada and the blade is crudely formed in the habaki-moto area. If this is one you are considering, I would recommend against buying it. For comparison, this is one of the best extant Rai Kunitoshi tanto. https://yuhindo.com/rai-kunitoshi-1/ Quote
CSM101 Posted September 16, 2019 Report Posted September 16, 2019 Another Rai Kunitoshi. Uwe G. Quote
RichardP Posted September 16, 2019 Report Posted September 16, 2019 Wow—one more mekugi-ana and that nakago is going to be in two pieces! Quote

Yuradneprov Posted September 18, 2019 Author Report Posted September 18, 2019 Showa22 sells a lot of gimei? Or just a shady seller? Quote
AndyMcK Posted September 18, 2019 Report Posted September 18, 2019 Gimei blades mostly and with bad (acid enhanced) polishes... -Antti Quote
Yuradneprov Posted September 18, 2019 Author Report Posted September 18, 2019 Any sellers on eBay that sell good stuff? Quote
Greg F Posted September 22, 2019 Report Posted September 22, 2019 Yuradneprov please sign all posts so we can address you politely. There are sellers on ebay that sell some decent items but I dont know of any (apart from members here ofcourse) that only sell good stuff on ebay. It takes patience, study and luck to find the good stuff especially at decent prices. Best place to start is in the sales section here imho. Greg Quote
Ken-Hawaii Posted September 22, 2019 Report Posted September 22, 2019 Greg, that IS his name. 1 Quote
Brian Posted September 23, 2019 Report Posted September 23, 2019 Yura, in your profile, you can change your display name, even though your login name will stay the same. I suggest you add a space between your first name and your last name so that we know how to address you. Will just make it easier for those of us not familiar with naming convention. Thanks. Quote
Yuradneprov Posted September 24, 2019 Author Report Posted September 24, 2019 Thank you Greg will do, and will change it Brian 1 Quote
