kissakai Posted September 2, 2019 Report Posted September 2, 2019 Hi I recently bought these items as I liked the form and condition 1875 Pat. Type 14. Japanese Army Parade Sabre 1883 Naval Officers Parade Sword with dress knot 1899 Pat. Type 32. Army Officers sword with matching numbers WWII Japanese Officers sword belt I will add the swords to the NMB sales after I’ve done some research I was going to keep the sword belt as it would look great with a parade sword. You can see the condition is superb and I believe that it is rare. I couldn’t find this on a Google image search or the NMB so pricing was difficult I would like to offer this WWII Japanese Officers sword belt for £400. Fees and shipping excluded Grev 2 Quote
Bazza Posted September 2, 2019 Report Posted September 2, 2019 GOOD GRAVY!!! That's more mint than the green plant in my garden!!! WOW. BaZZa. Quote
PNSSHOGUN Posted September 2, 2019 Report Posted September 2, 2019 Would suspect this is for an IJN marine officer with the double sword hangers. Quote
kissakai Posted September 2, 2019 Author Report Posted September 2, 2019 No other marks apart from a painted figure of 8 but made up of two diamonds IJN ? Quote
Guest Posted September 3, 2019 Report Posted September 3, 2019 Hi Grev, Can you show the painted figure 8 please? In image 6 there is what looks like a particular type of crossed over stitch holding the two edges of the large belt loop together. This looks like hand stitching. Quote
kissakai Posted September 3, 2019 Author Report Posted September 3, 2019 Hi Good spot. I thought it was a paint mark but it is stitched Quote
kissakai Posted September 9, 2019 Author Report Posted September 9, 2019 Price drop to £350 and I still don't know what these initials stand for IJN Quote
Kiipu Posted September 9, 2019 Report Posted September 9, 2019 Price drop to £350 and I still don't know what these initials stand for IJN IJN = Imperial Japanese Navy. Quote
Kiipu Posted September 9, 2019 Report Posted September 9, 2019 Would suspect this is for an IJN marine officer with the double sword hangers. If Japanese, I agree. Quote
kissakai Posted September 9, 2019 Author Report Posted September 9, 2019 I meant to ask but assume it is WW2 Quote
Kiipu Posted September 9, 2019 Report Posted September 9, 2019 The thought occurred to me that you should check the waist size of the belt. Japanese doughboys were small in stature but big in fighting spirit. My two cents at least. Quote
kissakai Posted September 9, 2019 Author Report Posted September 9, 2019 Waist = 28" - 71cms I had a 28" waist when I was in full training around 22 years old! Not now Quote
Guest Posted September 10, 2019 Report Posted September 10, 2019 Hi Grev Thank you for the close up of the stitching. It is an example of Sashiko stitching and sometimes this kind of finish had a Talismanic purpose (Like the stitches on the back of Japanese babies clothing or the thousand stitch belt) Quote
kissakai Posted September 17, 2019 Author Report Posted September 17, 2019 Hi Well it looks like I overpaid for this belt The condition drew me in and from a long time collector I was going to keep with a WW2 parade sword but have only decided to keep the WW1 parade sword So now at £300 Quote
kissakai Posted September 28, 2019 Author Report Posted September 28, 2019 Ref previous post and I've learnt my lesson, research before buying Lowest I can go is £225 If it doesn't go at this price I will keep it, maybe with a WW2 parade sword Quote
