Help with hakogaki

Hi All.  I have purchased a tsuba recently that has a hakogaki that I can't translate well at all.   Here is a link with photos of the tsuba and questions about it.

Here is a photo of our attempt at a translation.  The seal appears to be Torigoye's seal but I can't find his mei or kao.  Also, I can't find any attribution of the tsuba to a school or province.  Hopefully it is in line 2.   Any help that you can be with the translation would be greatly appreciated.  Cheers, Bob

No worries Stephen.  Sometimes I don't reveal when I was the buyer, thinking that people will give more candid opinions.  Not sure if that works though!

What I do is ask Markus Sesko for a translation so I can better understand the provenance of the work then buy if I want to.

9. 鳥越在耶 - Torigoe Saro (reading?)

Thank you very much Moriyama San!!   This is very, very helpful and I hope you won't mind my asking a couple of questions.  Is Saro short for Kazutaro?  After your help, I did find this writing of his name (see below), which appears to be quite similar.  Did Torigoye San write anything about the maker or school of the tsuba?  Cheers, Bob

Just remembered I have a set of three fuchi by Yasuchika boxed with a Torigoe hakogaki.  I bought these from Richard Turner quite some years ago.  Here is the document I made describing the set.  I've put the hakogaki photo separately for those who don't want to read the article.

Thanks for posting that BaZZa.   This might be a good place for a NMB "collection" of Torigoye hakogaki, or hakogaki in general.  These were the top appraisals of the time by some of the leading experts of the last century.   Thanks for the kind words Tom.  I sometimes fail, but rarely buy something unless I really like it.

Hi All.  With apologies, I ended up starting two threads on this one when the other thread about the school of the tsuba didn't yield any light as to the translation.  As it turns out, Markus weighed in with a translation, which agreed with the parts that Morita San and Moriyama San had done.  The other thread can be found here, where there is also a photo showing that the tsuba is shinchu and with a "composite" translation.  Cheers, Bob

Thank you Morita San, this is very helpful!  Will you please tell me what is the translation for 5,  文字  蝋模様入?  I will update the composite.  You are amazing at reading this handwriting!
