Logan09 Posted August 31, 2019 Report Posted August 31, 2019 Yes, you hear that right. Looking for a used piece of brown Ito. Needs to be at least 10 inches long. Photo is exactly what it looks like. Previous owner glued the Ito down onto the sharkskin and I can't remove it without destroying it. I actually had Ito off a Tanto that was the exact same color, but threw it out... Thanks.
Stephen Posted August 31, 2019 Report Posted August 31, 2019 Id check with David Macdonald Better yet replace it all. .
Logan09 Posted August 31, 2019 Author Report Posted August 31, 2019 Better yet replace it all. . Blade needs a full polish. At least with a piece of Ito I can wrap the Tsuka in katate-maki and make it look somewhat decent until I figure out its future.
Ken-Hawaii Posted September 1, 2019 Report Posted September 1, 2019 Logan, are you sure that's samegawa under the ito? It doesn't look like any shark skin I've ever seen.
ChrisW Posted September 1, 2019 Report Posted September 1, 2019 That looks like some kind of fish-scale or aquatic snake scale. Far too regular and fine to be ray or shark.
Logan09 Posted September 1, 2019 Author Report Posted September 1, 2019 You guys are correct. I compared it to my shark skin Gunto tsuka and it lacks the sharp barbs. I'm assuming it's some kind of reptile skin.
